Tim Scott
Tim started skiing at Glencoe when he was 12 years old, initially taught by his older siblings but mainly self-taught in the early years. He soon caught the bug for skiing and would brave all sorts of weather and snow conditions to make a few turns in the Scottish mountains .
Tim’s first ski holiday abroad was aged 15 on a school trip to the Italian Dolomites, where he was inspired by the mountains and the excitement they held. He never tires of mountain life and still gets excited when the first snowflakes fall each winter!
His first winter season (in 1989) was spent in Morgins on the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil, working as a ski technician and driver. His spare time was spent skiing, mainly with better skiers and other instructor colleagues to help inspire (or scare) him.
In 1990 Tim started instructor training through BASI (British Association of Snowsports Instructors) and the long road to BASI ISTD instructor and French equivalence. Training and assessment for BASI (and also the French ‘test de capacité’ slalom) exams took over 5 years, with courses/exams taking place in Austria, Scotland, France, Italy and Andorra.
During his early training years (1990-1995) Tim worked as an assistant instructor and administrator for the British Alpine Ski School in Les Gets and Morzine.

Tim also ran a specialist mountain bike holiday business (Alp Active 1992-2007) during the summer months in Les Gets. It was one of the early pioneers in the bespoke cycling holiday market and many other companies followed suit.
After fully qualifying (in 1995) Tim continued working for British and International Les Gets ski schools, spending many hours teaching young children as well as adult group and private ski lessons. In 2003 he branched out and started working independently, teaching ski and snowboard lessons in the Les Gets and Morzine area.
Tim launched Les Gets Snowsports (LGS) in 2006 to cater for the needs of English speaking skiers in Les Gets. LGS is an umbrella brand which promotes the services of other like-minded British ski instructors in Les Gets.
When Tim isn’t on the slopes he is responding to emails and enquiries about ski lessons in Les Gets. He is normally your first contact at LGS so you can be sure to receive professional and knowledgeable advice based on Tim’s years of experience in the ski industry.
Outside of the winter and LGS responsibilities, Tim offers garden maintenance services to private owners in the Les Gets area. His other passions are road biking, gravel biking, mountain biking and water skiing.
